The short version.

We collect only what we need to run Folio. We don't sell your data. We don't share it with anyone except the services needed to operate the platform — primarily Stripe for payments. You can ask us to delete your data at any time. We take your privacy seriously and we've tried to explain everything clearly below.

Who We Are

Folio ("we", "us", "our") is a digital marketplace platform operating at joinfolio.app. We are the data controller responsible for your personal data collected through this platform.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal data when you use Folio, in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Folio is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as required under UK data protection law.

What Data We Collect

We collect different types of data depending on how you use Folio.

Why We Collect It

We collect and process your data for the following purposes:

We will never sell your personal data to third parties. Ever.

Who We Share It With

We share your data only with the following third parties, and only to the extent necessary to operate the platform:

We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for commercial purposes.

Data shared between brands and creators: When a brand places an order with a creator, certain information is shared between them to facilitate the transaction — including the brand's brief, the creator's shipping address, and platform communications. By using Folio, you consent to this sharing as part of the normal operation of the platform.

How Long We Keep It

Account data For the duration of your account, plus 30 days after deletion
Transaction and order records 7 years — required for tax and legal compliance
Platform communications 2 years after the order is completed
Dispute records 3 years after the dispute is resolved
Waitlist data Until platform launch or until you unsubscribe
Usage and analytics data 26 months — standard analytics retention

After the relevant retention period, your data is securely deleted or anonymised.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you. We will respond within 30 days.

You can ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data we hold about you.

🗑 Right to Erasure

You can ask us to delete your personal data. Some data may be retained where we have a legal obligation to keep it.

⏸ Right to Restrict Processing

You can ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.

📦 Right to Data Portability

You can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format to transfer to another service.

🚫 Right to Object

You can object to us processing your data for marketing purposes at any time.

Children's Privacy

Folio is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it immediately.

If you believe a minor has created an account on Folio, please contact us at privacy@joinfolio.app and we will take immediate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by displaying a prominent notice on the platform. The date of the most recent update will always be displayed at the top of this page.

Your continued use of the platform following notification of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
